Veterinarians

Dr. Dale Steele started the practice in 1977.  He is a graduate of Purdue.  He started out treating all species of animals, but as the practice grew, the large animal portion was dropped to allow him to concentrate on family pets 100% of the time.  He and his wife, Jean, are active members of Cornerstone Christian Church.  He is very active with his 3 sons and their athletic, and college endeavors.

Dr. Scott Fifer joined Westwood in 1987 upon his graduation from Purdue.  He originated from Indianapolis and now resides in Brownsburg with his wife, Sara, and son and daughter.  He is co-owner of the practice.   He is an avid wildlife enthusiast that enjoys visiting the state parks looking for rare birds.  Dr. Fifer also has 2 cats, "Zoobie" and "Thomas".

Dr. Jackie Busch joined Westwood in 2001.  She is an Ohio State graduate and has over 8 years experience in small animal practice.  She has special interests in surgery, dermatology and caring for the senior pet.  She and her husband, Scott, share their home with their 2 children and their furry family.

Dr. Dana Fehr joined Westwood in 2004. She is a graduate from Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine.  Originally from Chicago, she now resides in Indianapolis with her husband, Jeff, daughter Ava,  and 2 Weimaraners, "Savannah" and "Aspen".  Her hobbies include running with her dogs, ice skating, and she is a Duke Fan (her alma mater.)

Veterinary Technicians

Elizabeth, BS RVT started at Westwood in 1999 as an assistant.  She then completed Purdue University's Veterinary Technology Program and received her Bachelor's Degree in December 2003.  She shares her home with her kitties, "Hazel.& Hank" .  Her other kitty Freddy lives with her parents.

Jamie, RVT started at Westwood in August of 2001.  She and her husband, Dave, welcomed the birth of their first son in March 2005 and are expecting a second child in the summer 2007.  She has 1 boxer, "Quimby"  and 2 cats, "Moe" and "Tigger."   Her interests are volleyball, softball, cross-stitching, singing, and playing piano.

Chris, Tech started working for Westwood in 2007. He has worked with animals for 10 years. He shares his home with "Tristan" his welsh corgi mix and Keebler his dapple dachshund (not shown).

Veterinary Assistants

Megen has worked at Westwood since July 2000.  She is an assistant that helps the doctors and technicians in all areas of the hospital.  She and her husband, John share their home with their 3 wonderful Boxers, "Tyson," "Mya," and "Ali Mo."

Dawn joined Westwood in September 2006 as an assistant.  She graduated from PCI with a diploma in Animal Science.  She plans to return to school within a year to get her Vet Tech license.  She shares her home with her twin sons, Colton and Chase, and her dogs "Magie" and "Foster".  She enjoys spending time with her family and watching sports with the "boys".

Darren, Dr. Steele's oldest son joins Westwood during his summer breaks from Purdue.  He is currently working towards his DVM  at Purdue University in West Lafayette, and will join us as a full time veterinarian once he has completed the program. 

Office Manager

Debbie has been at Westwood since 1993.  The only children she has left at home are her "furry children."  Her daughter lives in Florida with her own family.  She and her husband currently have 3 adult Golden Retrievers. She breeds and shows Golden Retrievers, and competes in the conformation ring and also does field work and tracking.

Puppy Class Instructor

Christy joined the Westwood front office in 2004.  She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Butler University.  Prior to Westwood, she was a Senior Keeper and Animal Trainer for the Indianapolis Zoo for 4 1/2 years.  She has special interests in Animal Behavior, Training, and riding horses.  She and her husband live in Pittsboro with their two  daughters  and are currently expecting their third child in Septemberl.  They live on a small farm with 4 horses, several chickens, a dog, "Charlie" a Border Collie and a cat that routinely lives up to her name, "Lucky."  She also now teaches  Puppy Class here at Westwood on Tuesday nights.

Front Office Staff

Colleen originally worked in Westwood's front office from 1997-1999.  She returned back as an office assistant in 2005.  She and her husband Kurt have 3 children, 2 of whom are attending college.  She has 2 German Shorthair Pointers, "Boomer", and "Belle" that are avid hunters and compete in field trials.  Sadly we will be loosing Colleen in December.  She and her family will be moving out of state.  We will hate to see her go.

Darlene has worked in Westwood's front office since March 2003.  She creates all of the displays found within the clinic and sews the bandanas, and catnip mice that are for sale at Westwood.  She also custom designs dog clothing for her family of Yorkies and to sell.  She and her husband, Dave, share their home with their 9 Yorkshire Terriers.

Sarah has worked in Westwood's front office since October 1996.  Her hobbies are genealogy and collecting rural art.  She and her husband share their household with their son, 2 bad cats, and several tropical fish.

Greeters

Dave  started work in 2000.  A life long Brownsburg resident whom retired from teaching art after 34 years at Brownsburg High School.  His interests are in art, woodworking construction, and camping with his church group.  Dave will be retiring from Westwood in February.  It won't be the same without him to greet everyone as they come in to Westwood.

Penny  Before joining Westwood in April of 2002, Penny worked as a customer service representative for a local boarding and grooming facility.  She and her husband live in Brownsburg with their 4 Chihuahuas and 2 dachshunds.  She enjoys spending time with friends and family, and attending dog shows.

Pete joined Westwood in February 2003.  He had been a client for many years, and offered to fill in as a greeter as needed.  His hobbies include working on his cars and racing his Porsche.
